Terusha joined Koda Capital in September 2023 working with the ISG Team as our Responsible Investment Specialist.
Terusha has over a decade of experience in governance, sustainability, ESG, and responsible investment. At Koda Capital, she leads the charge in seamlessly integrating ESG and responsible investment practices across diverse asset classes. Terusha’s role encompasses devising and implementing robust responsible investment strategies, policies, and processes, conducting thorough ESG risk assessments and opportunity screenings, diligently monitoring performance, and conducting comprehensive investment research and analysis.
Terusha previously held Senior Responsible Investment roles within asset management both in Australia and in South Africa. She was the Head of Responsible Investment at Platypus Asset Management and served various functions including Senior Responsible Investment Analyst, Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure Manager and Climate Change Analyst at Old Mutual Limited. Prior to that she spent time at Sanlam Investment Group, where she focused on ESG integration in listed equities, including proxy voting and stewardship and chaired the Ethics Committee.
Terusha has also sat as a representative on the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance’s Engagement, Financing Transition and Monitoring, Reporting and Verification working groups and was previously a member of the Advance PRI Human Rights Stewardship Advisory Committee. She also has a keen interest in sustainable development research and completed a masters thesis focused on implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Terusha holds a Bachelor of Law with Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and is an Admitted Attorney (South Africa). She also obtained a Master of Business Management and Administration with Distinction from the University of Stellenbosch. She completed a Professional Postgraduate Governance Qualification with the Chartered Governance Institute and holds certificates in Impact Investing, Sustainable and Responsible Investment and ESG Performance. She was also certified as an Ethics Officer with Distinction through the University of Stellenbosch and Ethics South Africa.
